Let Me Get This Straight
From Yahoo! News covering Senator-elect Scott Brown's victory:
The president suggested the same forces that elected Brown "swept me into office" in 2008. People are frustrated "not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years, but what's happened over the last eight years."
So, wait. People in Massachusetts, as a part of their frustration with GWB, elected you, President Obama. And that frustration swept you into office and then elected your opposition party candidate to replace one of the biggest institutions in your party as part of, here's where I'm not clear, CONTINUED frustration with GWB.
No, Mr. President. Senator Brown was elected as a referendum of your politics and that of your cohorts. Make no mistake.

Except Brown is a LIBERAL Conservative who seems to be fairly moderate. He was elected to filibuster, which is a bad reason to vote for someone, I laugh, because this Liberal prefers him in the Senate, since he is culturally liberal and Fiscally Conservative, for now. And Filibusters and Lack of Term Limits are archaic and contrary to Democracy. As is one party controlling The Executive and Both Houses.
And seriously, how can everyone be so Myopic?
There's nothing contrary to the democracy that America works with and was intended to have about filibuster. I can't get over this. Systemically, the Senate was conceived of as the least democratic of our democratic institutions, specifically for the purpose of tempering the more democratic House. Things are supposed to be hard to do in the Senate. That's the point. The Framers had as much fear of a runaway democracy as they did of a runaway tyranny.
I think ramming an unpopular bill that nobody, not even the liberal state of Massachusetts, wants is contrary to democracy.
I would also say that vowing to "stay the course" with this pathetic bill and trying some sneak tactic like forcing the house to ram the Senate bill through or going the reconciliation route are also pathetic excuses for democracy.
Its time these progressive clowns in Washington realize what time it is.
Will Obama blame "the last 8 years" when/if he loses re-election in 2012.
If he does, at least then he'd be half right.
I'm fairly certain that nowhere in my comment did I defend or even mention some bill or some president, I could be wrong though.
An us against them attitude will fail US every time, us with them is the answer. Hard to do does not equate into not doing at all.
Agreed that an "us with them" mentality is the only way to get things done. Also agreed that a system that makes it hard to get things done doesn't and shouldn't mean impossible to get done. What it requires is compromise and, you know, good ideas and stuff.
And if Congressional Dems had shown any inkling of a desire to compromise and to bring GOP ideas of healthcare reform into play, it might have had a shot at getting a few GOP votes and wouldn't be at this moment. Dems missed their chance. Again.
My comment was in reference to Obama's remark wherein he blamed Bush for Scott Brown winning in MA.
Is there anything Bush is not responsible for?
Sure. The One's massive drop in popularity and approval after one year.
I could argue that is Repubs had any ideas that were helpful the Dems may have listened, but I won't cause it may or may not be true, but us latching on to the same thing career politicians say in front of a camera is not going to get them to change.
I mean, I am SOOOO glad my Senator wrote a letter to the President about Football, really, that is a good use of his time, really.
The answer is term limits.
And the indexes climb.
Term limits are a good idea.
And the indexes climb every time Obama gets shot down.
But, as I say every time you point that out: they climbed to historical highs under GWB. In other words: so?
And they are still several thousand points below those highs.
(R)'s have publicly announced ideas they have. But they may as well be you and me. Neither of us is getting an invite to the negotiations.
There are rumblings that home sales are climbing, the indexes are rising, many corporations are showing much better than expected revenue, which could mean new jobs soon. IF, I Stress, IF that happens, Mid term and/or Presidential elections will be interesting.
Again, They will likely be more of the same, but, don't expect a landslide or even hope for it, because it is a clear indicator that things won't change, us vs them will continue.
I should also repeat, I like Brown.
You are probably right Bob.
