Applaud a Vet Today
This morning right before class started we said thank you to a former Apache helicopter pilot in the Army, Kory Farmer. The dude is one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet. Says what he thinks and doesn't beat around the bush. That trait is really refreshing.
Well, when the spotlight turned to him today his reaction was priceless.
"Naw. It's no big deal, man. Happy to do it."
Here's to you Farmer, Lawson and all the other Vets:

Leave it to a beer commercial to make me all dusty.
Something like that, though less dramatic, happened when I was on my way home from the Middle East. On our flight we had a bunch of guys coming home from Iraq and when we deplaned everyone in the terminal watched them silently, reverently.
There were some pretty emotional reunions happening, and all of us watching were touched.
Today seems especially important, given the Jihadist attack at Fort Hood.
Southwest does something like this periodically. If the flight attendants notice that there are soldiers in uniform, they'll usually take time to learn their name and then, before deplaning, announce that they're there on their way home from assignment or whatever. There's never been a need to request applause.
Nice Bitner, but I am surprised you haven't posted anything on this yet:
